Automata use mechanisms to turn movements into stories. Come learn how to upcycle your garbage into a mechanical story telling device.
This Winter holidays Discovery will be hosting hands-on workshop sessions for high-ability students and those seeking extension in Grades 3-6. Workshop sessions run for 90 minutes and are designed to be fun and engaging combining invention, design and creativity skills. Using upcycled materials to make mechanical story telling devices, called automata. Students create a simple machine that uses rotational movement from a handle to move other parts.
Discovery are pleased to be able to offer the sessions for free for any students in Grades 3-6 from a Victorian Government school that supply the contact details of a nominating teacher. Other students may participate at a cost of $15 per head.
This program is provided to Victorian Primary Students in years 3-6 thanks to the Department of Education and Training.
