The Discovery Centre is a not-for-profit community organisation, and registered charity, with a dedicated volunteer base. We are proud to contribute to and nurture our community, whilst implementing sustainable business practices to ensure we’re here for future generations to enjoy.
Every donation to Discovery makes a difference, whether it feeds our Minibeasts for a week or funds a whole school trip to the centre.
Discovery Science & Technology Centre is partnering with Bendigo Sustainability Group and the Community Power Hub Bendigo to crowdfund a large expansion to Discovery’s solar system.
Our target of 84 solar panels will produce an additional 25kW of power.
Combined with batteries to store clean energy generated during the day to use at night, this will help us achieve energy self-sufficiency and zero carbon emissions from electricity.
An interactive display will show our energy generation in real time, explain the science of solar panels and batteries, and explore the benefits of and career opportunities in renewable energy.
