Bookings Cancellation and Refund Policy

This policy applies to school bookings, birthday parties and group bookings

At the Discovery Science and Technology Centre, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, requiring changes to your booking. To ensure clarity and fairness, our cancellation and refund policy is as follows:

1. Cancellation Notice Requirements

  • More than 15 Days Before the Event
    Full refund of the booking fee will be provided.
  • 15-8 Days Before the Event
    50% of the booking fee will be refunded, or the booking can be rescheduled to a future date within 12 months (subject to availability).
  • Less than 8 Days Before the Event
    No refund will be issued. Rescheduling may be considered at the discretion of the Centre and subject to availability.

2. Rescheduling Policy

  • One complimentary rescheduling request is permitted if made at least 8 days before the event.
  • Additional rescheduling requests or those made less than 8 days before the event may incur an administrative fee of $50.

3. Cancellation by Discovery Science and Technology Centre

In the rare event that the Centre must cancel a booking due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., emergencies, facility issues):

  • A full refund will be issued, or
  • The booking can be rescheduled at no additional cost.

4. Refund Process

Refunds will be processed within 14 business days of the cancellation request being approved. Payments will be refunded via the original payment method.

5. Terms and Conditions

  • All cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made in writing via email to bookings@discovery.asn.au.
  • Proof of payment and booking confirmation must be provided when requesting a cancellation or refund.
  • This policy does not cover third-party costs (e.g., catering or external services booked by the hirer).

Ticket Refund Policy

Discovery Science and Technology Centre understands that plans can change. Refunds may be provided under the following conditions:

  • Advance notice: Refund requests must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled visit or session.
  • How to request: All refund requests must be submitted via email or by contacting our team directly, including your booking details.
  • Eligibility: Refunds will be issued to the original payment method for eligible requests made within the required timeframe.
  • Late notice or non-attendance: Refunds will generally not be provided for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the booking, or for non-attendance.
  • Exceptional circumstances: Requests outside of this policy may be considered on a case-by-case basis at management’s discretion.

We appreciate your understanding and encourage early communication to help us accommodate your request.

Retail Item Returns

You have 30 days from the date of receiving an item to request a return. You may return products that are:

• Broken

• Faulty

• Not as described

Items must be in original packaging and include proof of purchase.

Retail Item Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your item, we will notify you. If approved, refunds will be processed to your original payment method. Refund timing depends on your card issuer.

Shipping

You are responsible for the cost of return shipping. Shipping costs are non-refundable and deducted from your refund.

Donation Refunds

If you have donated to the Discovery Centre, you have 30 days from the donation date to request a refund.

Membership Refunds

If you purchased a Discovery membership and have not used or activated it, you may request a refund.
