Forces at work!

The Science Behind the Slide

The Vertical Slide is more than just a thrill, it’s science you can feel. Let go and feel the pull of gravity as your speed increases while you fall. For a brief moment, your body feels almost weightless, a small taste of the “zero-G” sensation astronauts experience in orbit. It’s an exciting way to experience everyday physics and forces at work, like acceleration, friction and motion. Our friendly Science Explainers are always happy to explain the physics in simple terms for curious minds.
Safety First

Who Can Ride

The Vertical Slide is suitable for ages 5 and up. Socks must be worn on the slide, and they are available for $2 in the Discovery Shop. All slide sessions are run by our trained Science Explainers, and safety instructions are provided before every session.

If you have any pre-exisiting injuries we recommend that you do not attempt the slide.
Friendly Faces, Positive visits!
