Bendigo’s favourite astronomy event takes place roughly once a month on Friday nights right outside Discovery. Hosted by the Astronomical Society of Victoria’s Bendigo branch, Sidewalk Astronomy invites passers-by to look through shared telescopes, chat with local experts and explore the night sky above. These relaxed, family-friendly evenings make stargazing fun, welcoming and inspiring for all ages.
Discovery welcomes homeschooling families for Homeschool Day, an exclusive morning dedicated to hands-on science and shared learning. Held once per term, this special event includes a hands-on workshop, a planetarium show and a session on the Vertical Slide, all delivered in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Learners can explore STEM at their own pace, connect with others and enjoy high-quality educational experiences. It’s a chance to meet other families, dive into science together and enjoy a unique learning experience that blends fun, exploration and community.
